GHIN® HANDICAP INFORMATION

All member clubs of the Hawaii State Golf Association utilize the GHIN® Handicap System. The GHIN® Handicap System was developed by the United States Golf Association in the spring of 1981.

GHIN®  has now become the world's largest handicap computation service. GHIN® is provided through 60 State and Regional Golf Associations to nearly 9,700 clubs and approximately two million golfers. GHIN® is maintained by the United States Golf Association and the staff is composed of USGA employees.

The USGA Handicap Indexes issued through Golf Associations by golf clubs are designed to allow golfers of differing abilities to compete on an equitable basis and thereby increase the enjoyment they derive from a round of golf. The Handicap Index is revised throughout the golf season and is based on golfers' scores and the relative difficulty of the courses on which their rounds are played.
